I had Extends color set for Stroke Speed but once I turned Stroke Speed off it works.

Has something changed with hairy brush mode in the latest version? I have v1.41 - 22.09.2015 but when I try to follow the hairy brush mode video on the tutorial page it doesn't seem to work.
