Cursor circle flashing black and white.

It's definitely a feature and not a bug, but when I hold my cursor over a place on the canvas where i've painted it turns white. And when I leave the area (no paint) it goes black. I get really distracted and thrown off by the flickering. Is there a way to turn it off?
