I agree in that as long as it's an option it's cool to see it in different forms.
As long as it doesn't become the ONLY option.

Steam is simply far to limiting of a program deployment platform as it stands.
If they ever make openly shareable accounts with multiple log-ins all with different levels of privileges it would be a different story, as of now though steam would be an IT nightmare to deploy in many circumstances.

I also work on games industry and Steam installation is a no no on dev machines.

Ok please close this topic, there's more need for the improvements on other areas :)

As long as Steam is an option, that's fine. If it becomes a requirement, I'm gone.
