Trying to use hairy brush mode

Has something changed with hairy brush mode in the latest version? I have v1.41 - 22.09.2015 but when I try to follow the hairy brush mode video on the tutorial page it doesn't seem to work. I just get the color that is on the color wheel, no other color from the image I'm working on.

Windows 10 + Intuos 3

Be sure that your "color amount" parameter is not a 100% to mix colors it must be not very high, also be sure that pickup underlayer check-box is enabled.

Thank you, it now works!
I had Extends color set for Stroke Speed but once I turned Stroke Speed off it works.
