... is used for moving the canvas. It can be changed, but It also resets the selected brush to the default one, which is very odd behavior. Each time you move the canvas you have to re-select the brush.

Can I de-activate the resetting of the selected brush?

Seems that you bind SPACE to the special brush. To do it you need click at the little "Q" button at the bottom of brushes panel and press hotkeys combination (or ESC to unbind !!!)
