Random squares appearing while painting

Just as in title. I noticed that they appear most often when I'm changing layer blending options. They act like a normal object – you can erease/paint over/move them.
Example 1
They're not only annoying, but also makes work harder, because when I try to erease one it reappears at the edges of the ereaser.
Example 2 – ereasing
I really enjoy your program otherwise, but I hope I can do something with those rectangles. Please, help!

We know about this bug, but could not catch it, because it happens very rare. For me it sometimes happens only with an eraser, I turned off eraser FPU at the moment and after a little time turn it on again - and the bug disappear... but what's the happens? I can't understand...

What is your graphic card model?

I have been experiencing the same issue, and it's anything but rare for me. It seems, in my case, to happen very consistently when first opening PSS or files opened for the first time in PSS. Sometimes it disappears when I undo, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it isn't even visible until I look at the file in PS. Sometimes I can paint on a different layer and it will disappear. I switched off the gpu for the brush and it disappeared, but after switching the gpu on and off a couple of times, it happened with the gpu off. It looks very much like foreground and background colours are being applied to the transparent area of the brush. I can also paint on the layer above where the artifacts appear and the artifacts will disappear. In my case it is happening on a 2009 Mac Pro with a GTX 970, OS X 10.11.6 and on my Macbook Pro with a Radeon HD 6750M and OS X 10.8.5.

I just turn the GPU button off for brushes that this occurs with. I have a feeling its similar to the 0 transparency bug. I notice it occurs most often with my erasers, and when I'm using a layers style like add etc. I run a windows 10, i7, and a nvidia 1060 GPU. I wonder if making brush options limited to 1 - 99 ranges could help? It seems eerily similar to the 0 value transparency bug, but I am not a programmer.

Hope this helps! Wonderful work so far guys, the bugs are just a part of designing something so complex and wonderful. You folks really need to let me donate some money in some way. Maybe a monthly brush surprise pack or something via patreon.

All the best,

Armor

Happens even with a 1 pixel brush.

I have been using PSS for a brief time now on another workstation with macOS Sierra, GTX 1080, and the nVidia web drivers for macOS and have not yet experienced this issue on this computer. Hope this information may be useful.

Update to my previous post: With macOS Sierra and the GTX 1080, the artifacts still appear, but they are much more subtle.

I also find this issue often. Is difficult to replicate but once it happens it continues to happen until I restart Paintstorm. I'm not sure if this helps but I've observed the following:

- When it happens, I can temporarily resolve it by clicking Filters > Blur and then canceling (not applying any blur)
- When I try to take a screenshot (cmd+shift+4) the system doesn't allow me when the issue is happening. I have to tab out of Paintstorm and back into it and then it allows me. Sometimes when I tab out and back in the issue is gone.
- The rectangles (and they are always rectangles) appear at border of the brush.

I hope this helps a bit.

System:

macOS Sierra 10.12.5
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
3.5 GHz Intel Core i5
40 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 575 4096 MB
