Distortion when importing photos

When importing ipad photos, sometimes the image is stretched horizontally. I think it is when the photos are in portrait orientation. The straight line tool sometimes goes weird. A drag and release straight line tool would be more accurate and intuitive too. When a canvas is rotated the snap to grid tool does not converge to the correct location.
