GPU Processing stays high

I'm using PSS on my PC and on the Surface Pro 3.

On the Surface pro 3 I notice a lot more, the fans runs constantly and it gets very warm.
The Surface pro 3 has an Intel 4th gen HD4400 graphics, not the best but surely should be enough. My PC has Nvidea Quadro 2000.

When using PSS the GPU usage hit around 80% and stays there, the CPU usage is low (on my PC it uses 2 cores of the dual Xeon Quad core setup I have)
The surface gets very hot and runs slowly with the GPU staying this high.

When using Autodesk Sketchbook the CPU stays low too, the GPU runs high but ONLY when the pen/cursor is in use, the processing by the GPU stops as soon as the pen/cursor is released, the Surface stays cooler.
I've also tried the BETA trial of Leonardo (#getleonardo) and that runs very quickly all the time with no GPU heat issues.

Is there any way to get PSS to stop GPU processing when the GUI is idle?
What's it processing constantly on a static screen?

Is anybody successfully using PSS on on i5 Surface Pro 3?

I like PSS and would like to be able to use it on my SP3, I wonder with the heat generated on my lap would I be infertile first or would the SP3 die.
