Shift for straight lines not working

So I've tried shift, alt-shift, ctrl-shift, looked for options for straight lines, but there's nothing. Nothing works. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm completely stumped. I've been using Paintstorm since it came out pretty much and I've never been able to use it. Then I was told that it was an option, tried again and still got nothing.
