Happened to me too, i THINK it changes from your brush to a default eraser. Maybe disabling the eraser function from your wacom pen would be a temporary solution to this.

I like the steam idea too. Blender is in steam already also 
And yeah, like the last post said, it would be lovely if current customers would be provided steam keys if this transition happens

White area appears when creating a new layer
Hello!
