Paint bucket buggy ios

I have problem big time with the paint bucket. I say it work half the time and i just cant figure out the logic of what makes it work when it does and when it doesnt. I can be on the top most layer, play with all the options using refenrence layer, all layers or none, it will fill some area but some other are impossible to fill. And i work with flat colors mostly.
Im on ipad pro. Other than that, i find the program is fantastic especially for my flat color style of painting.
