Air Brushes in Paintstorm?

I dont know if this is only a problem on my end but whenever there's a soft gradient in a brush, the gradient isnt actually present- It just paints it like a normal hard edge brush except the size is reduced because the colour is only applied at the >50% opacity areas in the brush tip
Is there a way to fix this because as much as I love all of the blending, covering large areas with an air brush would be nice for some lost edges and faster workflow.

Any ideas?
