Hello,

I can't seem to find a good setting for a brush that replicates oil paint 1" and 2" bristle brush.

It seems like when I set the option to lay down color, then the blending doesn't work; when I turn down color, then blending works better, but I don't get the color I want.
The above screen shot shows what I've been trying, but it just isn't yielding the results I am looking for.

Has anyone else figured out the best settings that would replicate the paint load of an oil paint bristle brush, one that blends as well as lays down color?

I have never used real paints, so I don't quite know how they should feel.

I took what you were asking for and tried to make the brush you described.
If you apply more pressure it should lay down solid color, and if you press lightly it should blend fairly well.

You can tweak the options as needed, but I hope this gets you closer to your desired goal!

One thing to take note on ipad, the pressure curve often needs large adjustments to "feel" right. Might be part of why you're having some trouble with the finer blending.

Better set pen pressure controller to Color amount, or it will be very hard to control blending
Also, if you want to simulate brislte brush maybe be better to enable "bristle brush mode"

Hi, could you please provide an example of your pressure curve since I tried to find better values but without success (iPad Pro 10.5 2nd generation).

This is an example I use on my brushes. I like finer control on the softer end of the brush curve.
I would recommend you play around with different curves a bit till it feels nice. There is no right or wrong with the pressure curves!

What will determine your curve?

- The wear on your apple pencil tip
- What kind of screen protector or lack of
- Any dropping of the apple pencil
- How you hold your pencil and your hand weight

If you suspect the pencil is not responding correctly, try this website using your apple pencil, a few of the demos will show you right away if it's not responding appropriately.

Pressure curves are one of the core functions of any painting program, I would highly recommend spending some time with it to really grasp what is possible. Curves are unique to their artists just as much as anything else is. Find what feels comfortable and go from there.
