there is a great thing about the lasso in photoshop: when in freeform mode you can hold option/ALT to switch it temporarily to polyline, add some straight lines and continue with the selection in freeform mode.

this makes it very easy to do complex selections. i really hope you consider to add this functionality soon

Hey, this is a very important feature, at least for me. being able to dynamically change from free lasso to polygonal, makes selections much more convenient and streamlined. Hope it will be added soon!
