Mkemo - My list of Suggestions
Posted: Wed Feb 24, 2016 9:53 pm
I'm going to use this thread to list any issues or suggestions I discover along my path of using Paintstorm Studio. Tonight's bugbear is with using the graph editor whilst building a new tool.
iPad Version
iPad UI needs a lot of work
I find the UI very buggy. The layout never remains as you left it in your previous session. The docked panels glitch out at the bottom if you focus away from Paintstorm and back again. You cannot dock panels wherever you want. You cannot resize your panels to exactly how you want e.g. The custom panels have certain minimum dimensions in x&y axes. The floating Hotkeys, while great with flexibility in size and position, I find I can accidentally move them all the time. They also reposition themselves if I put Paintstorm in a panel while multi-tasking apps.
Rotate canvas by Fingers improvements
Thank you for adding this feature. I would like to suggest some improvements if you don't mind. Would be great to be able to align the canvas to the nearest 90 degree angle while using this function by pinching your two fingers together and releasing. Again look to Procreate for a nice example on how this works well. The more gestures that Paintstorm can use the better we can de-clutter the UI.
Suggestion - Better Colour Picker.
The current colour picker is hard to use on the iPad (even with the Apple Pencil) having an offset and magnified view of the pixels you're picking from would be more ideal.
Suggestion - Keep dialog boxes alive whilst creating tools
It would be useful to be able to tweak the graph editor and try out the results on canvas, then make further tweaks etc. This applies to Windows and iPad versions (I don't own Mac version so can't speak for that)
*resolved*
This one seems more like a bug but if not then Suggestion - Click "Save' to overwrite previous save.
Save currently seems to act the same as 'Save As'. Ideally it would just overwrite the currently opened save file.
Suggestion - The ability to rotate the canvas with two fingers. It can be part of the same experience as zooming in and out. I would recommend checking out how Procreate handles gestures on the iPad (if you haven't already) it's really fantastic in this respect.
