In Paintstorm:
Currently the lasso selection in paintstorm is excluding all the overlapping areas.

A mode where the selection is more "inclusive" for overlapping areas will be a much better use for drawing and sketching shapes since it doesn't leave behind tiny holes and empty areas in the shape.

Something similar to this in Photoshop:

Brush selections could also be nice, though you can do this using masks and layers. Just a though to add to this one.
