Problem with registering for first time

Hi all, I've just bought a copy for my mac but when I come to register it says: 'No internet connection or server responding'

I've tried a couple of wifi sources and my mobile internet, none of them making it happen. Anyone else encountered this, is there something really simple I'm missing?
