Popup windows appearing behind main window in Linux Mint

Hi, I am using PSS in Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 64-bit. Any time PSS displays a popup message, it appears behind the main window instead of in front. It's a fairly mild annoyance most of the time, but it took me a long time to figure out that this is what was happening, because at first I just thought the program was freezing. I'm not sure if this is happening across other OS's or desktop environments in Linux as well.
