The perils of play

While it can only be described as play, I've continued to experiment with, at this point, making Paintstorm inoperable. On startup, I get the "Error: See log" at which point it terminates.

What was I doing at the time to create this situation? It could have been a number of things. I was experimenting with the clone function and got to the point where black squares would flash in different areas of the window. I opened another file and the problem went away, however if I went back to the original the flashing would be there. So that might have been it.

I was also working with sets of forms and got the same behavior I had reported earlier - got stuck and unable to change a set of forms or use them. At that point I exited. A reboot of Windows 10 (up to date) didn't help.

Net, I suspect I'm back to a reinstall from scratch. A GTX 745 with driver 368.22.

The log would seem to indicate nothing exceptional....

I'll save the Paintstorm Studio directory elsewhere in the event you want to look at something in it before I restore.

Another oddity. Starting Paintstorm using Workspace 3. Color panel is large and on left side. Move it away and resize. No other changes, click on HSV. Paintstorm goes into a loop. End task via task manager. Repeat. Same result. Start again, same but clock on RGB. RGB sliders show up, then click HSV, HSV sliders show up, click RGB again and HSV bars are fine.

I should note that in the posting above this only occurs on Workspace 3.

Another oddity. I realize that few people probably are playing as I do. If you select a form and then press the square within a dotted circle on the forms panel, you bring up a panel that allows you to flip the image and rotate it. If you stick to the left/right or top/bottom then when you go to use the form, the outline (cursor) looks correct. However if you use the rotate option, the looks to be going the opposite direction from where you set it although the actual image when you use the brush shows the correct orientation. Obviously not high priority.

Another oddity playing with gradients. I was creating a new gradient. In a number of cases I got an error box (which I should have copied) saying that the xxx.dat file could not be created. At that point the gradient associated with the brush (blue going to black) disappeared from the available choices to start with. I went on creating more and eventually ended up with a gray-black variant somehow replacing it when I went to "reset brush to default value" - actually now it goes to an orange variant. I created a few more and, on "reset to default" everything seemed to be OK. I admit I don't know how to use this control. It seems you can add points but not delete them other than by dragging them to one end or the other. So I've got a number of gradients set. End out of Paintstorm. Go back in, Paintstorm goes into a loop on loading. Knock it down via Task Manager. Go back in a second time and it start up as usual - however, back to the blue to black on the brush and the gradients I had created are all gone. There are 29 objects in the Paintstorm Studio/Gradients directory and there appear to be 30 gradients in the list at this point. I also noticed that, when "creating" the order in which the new gradients appeared seemed to be somewhat random in the resultant list. Also that all *.dat objects in the gradient directory look to have been touched/modified at the same time. Probably doing something I should be doing.

Sorry, probably something I should NOT be doing.

To delete gradient point - drag it down, until it disappear.
First slot in gradient library is the last used gradient. But if you choose it for the special brush it will be saved normally.
