Brush lags behind cursor with stabilization at zero

Hi all,
First let me start by saying that I've been enjoying Paintstorm so far, I'm getting those same vibes I got when I first found SAI way back when.
I'm currently experiencing an issue where if I make a prolonged stroke and lift the stylus off the tablet slightly during the stroke, think a small jump, the brush will start to lag behind the cursor in the same way I would expect if stabilization was set above zero. This really only proves a hindrance for me with things like cross-hatching.
It kind of makes sense why the software would try to do this, I imagine that I’m probably missing a setting somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.
System: Windows 10, i7-7700K, 16GB RAM, GTX1070
Device: Intuos Pro M (Intuos 5 M), latest drivers
