Reference panel not displaying

I have an issue where the reference panel is no longer displaying. In the dropdown view menu it indicates that it is active, however it is not visible. It used to display but does so no longer. Any ideas why this should be so?
I think PSS is a wonderful, impressive piece of software at such an affordable price.

I am having this same problem, but resetting the panel layout does not solve the issue. The reference panel will not show up no matter what I do, or no matter what workspace I use.
