Program closing when typing

I recently installed linux (elementary OS) on my system and installed paintstorm. The program itself works fine, all the brushes work and the pressure sensitivity works, but there is one issue that's been problematic and it's that if I try to type anything in any field the entire program instantly closes. this means I cant type in my email address to activate my license because if I try the program closes. I should note that I am also a total absolute beginner to linux (I had a friend help me install it) so I have almost no knowledge of any console commands or anything like that.

next release will have some changes in a text typing, maybe it will solve this issue.
