Subjective I know, but I'm struggling with some of the more extravagant UI adornments, e.g. radial gradients and strokes in menus. Also can't help but feel they may be making the software susceptible to UI quirks. For instance disappearing cursors, menu item judder on hover.
I personally feel a more naked UI would be better for the pro-level app Paintstorm is positioning itself as.

You can disable gradients for sliders and set it as a solid color. Also, you can disable panels animation.
