curvy line breaks and jumps while drawing

Post by SatyakiMandal » Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:37 am

I have been having this problem since a long time. Whenever I try to draw a curvy line the line often gets broken.
This mostly happens when the brush stroke is moderately fast. But it has happened with slow brush stroke too.

I have seen other post in the forum with the same concern where you have instructed to change the stabilizer to 0. I have done that but that did not solve the problem.

I am using wacom intuos pro M, and other programs like Krita, Sketchbook does not show this problem at all.
This bug has been there for a long time, I had posted the same concern in your facebook page with no response. When can I hope to get rid of this annoying bug?

Having kinda the same issue but with the start of the strokes. I have to put the lead, wait half a second, then stroke, it's just to annoying a problem to use paintstorm now.

Problem appeared a few days ago after my wacom driver update (I'm using a cintiq), but it works fine on other softs like clip studio or ps.
I tweaked the stabilizer in every way, disabled it on the brush setting and in file>options, still happening. Can't do sketching anymore with paintrosm

I have the same issue. I noticed first after installing version 2.31 and thought it would be resolved in ver 2.32, but turns out it still persists. I tried all suggested fixes, like disabling windows ink, reduce the double click distance, reinstall drivers, etc, but it still wouldn't resolve the issue. Been meaning to brought it up but I thought I was the only one with this problem.

Other softwares does not have this issue apparently, even photoshop which is heavier on the system produces a smooth line so I don't think it's hardware issue. I tried numerous fixes like reducing the double click distance, but it resolved only straight lines produced at the beginning of the stroke.
Hopefully there will be resolution regarding this, as I really like using paintstorm's brushes, it's so creamy and pleasant feeling. :D :)

Wacom drivers are never worked fine at all my PCs. Right now I am reset tablet settings every PC reboot (custom settings load does not help)
Also, I've to delete Wacom drivers after the last Windows update and reinstall it again, it works crazy before.
(My tablet intous 5 touch)

Wacom driver has no issues at all with my other softwares.
So my question is: will it be resolved soon? This feature alone is making me shift back and forth between krita and paintstorm.

I found out what the problem is for the flat glitch at the begining of a stroke : it comes from the double-click timer.
In the tablet setting, select your pen and paintstorm, and pull the slider to the left, to off. Worked for me.

I didn't reproduce this but noticed the same tendency in slower CPUs. I have issues with needing to reinstall Wacom drivers as well. Not sure if it's the conflict with Windows Ink but I had that long before CSP.

Does OP have the same issue using a tool like Nezumi (there's a demo available if you don't wish to buy it)?
Is there a possibility the shift key is somehow activating and forcing line snap? Try changing the key association.

I think CSP calculates points of brush as vectors at the graphic level but I'm not sure PSS does that at the GPU in GPU mode if at all.
Does OP get the issue in GPU-less mode in other apps? If so that can indicate a CPU issue with the polling rate and just be a lag issue. Do you find it reduces when using less applications or visuals on the computer or by using a smaller window (then that would be a graphics memory issue)?

My pc has 1050 ti and i7 7700. Can't say this as a slow pc. This problem was there in this review of DrawWithJazza : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5NLG4MtJ10&t=592s . So, this is not new. But I hope this gets resolved.

I don't have that issue, using my huion tablet. I don't remember at all but I thing I haven't it with my old wacom intuos pen n touch. And I have both drivers installed which people say is bad thing xD but err... nope for me. Probably is a thing about drivers or configuration, bad installation, OS issues.... anything, but sometimes is paintstorm and you have to clean up your Paintstorm folder of documents to reset it all. :) I have had to do it a couple+ of times because some critical issues, mainly because the interface that goes crazy.

I get the same behavior whenever I try to draw a circular shape very quickly. I noticed that the breaking of the curve occurs when one of my CPU cores spikes up above 80% use.

I have graphic acceleration and multicore turned on.

It's worth noting that my CPU is very old
dual xeon x5365 in a macpro, 8 cores total
Windows 10
Radeon HD 7950

I am providing this information in hopes of helping diagnose and correlate the OPs symptoms!

If I zoom in and work on a smaller area, the CPU doesn't spike up and I cannot get the line break to occur. If I zoom out to full canvas and try to draw circles very fast, I get line breaks everywhere. This happens even if I am drawing with the mouse, so wacom drivers are not part of the issue. (unless the wacom drivers are somehow causing a CPU strain). This behavior is specific to Painstorm studio, if I use Photoshop I can get the brush to lag a bit if I draw too fast or too big, but it will remain smooth once complete.

I hope this helps !
