Surface pro 2017 pen pressure not working

Hello, I recently accuired an surface pro 2017 windows tablet and i wanted to use paintstorm on it. However using my surface pen didnt record any pen pressure. I did some research and most people with similar issues could just run paintstorm in compatibility mode and download wintab drivers and then it would work, but not for me.

So i tried:
-updating all drivers to the latest
-running compatibility mode
-running wintab drivers
-disabling windows ink

In all other drawing software pen pressure works but not in paintstorm. If anyone could give me some tips i'd be happy to hear. Thanks!
